US Airways accepts small pets limited to dogs, cats, birds and fish in-cabin, there is a limit of one pet per carrier with a maximum of two carriers in coach class and one in first class with ticket passenger allowed max one kennel. Pets can fly domestically, to/from Canada, Mexico, Latin America and the Caribbean (except Barbados). Pet must be in an approved kennel/container. Pets are not allowed on transatlantic flights. If flight requires carrier change, i.e., US Airways is not the carrier on all segments of the flight, passenger must verify pet policies and charges with all carriers on itinery.
Pets must be harmless, inoffensive, ordorless, pose no hazard to safety of customers and require no attention during flight. Pet's kennel/carrier must be comfortable and pose no hazard to the pet, which must be able to stand, site and lie down in the carrier witht he container closed. Maximum size for cabin kennel is 21"x16"x8" for hard-sided and 21"x16"x10" for soft-sided. The pet kennel/carrier must also have solid supports at both ends and rigid bottom to maintain a fixed form and must be constructed so as to prevent the pet's escape and be free of interior protrusions. In addition the kennel/carrier must have ventilation openings on at least three sides and have clean suitable absorbent material to prevent leakage. Not all aircraft types can accommodate maximum kennel size. US Airways Express flights limit carry-on pets to one per flight, advanced reservations are required.
On October 1, 2005, US Airways instituted a policy which no longer allows pets to be checked as baggage or cargo.
At last check, the fee for in-cabin pets was $80 per pet, each way. Again, reservations are required and pet charges should be verified at the time of reservation.
