  • Q. My pet is very well behaved, if the hotel doesn't specifically state "no pets allowed", why can't I just take him with me?

  • A. Actually, if the hotel doesn't list their pet policy and you haven't asked, it is safer to assume, they do NOT allow pets. It's their property, they don't have to allow pets and so many others do, why not just start out with a reservation at an establishment you know will welcome you and your companion.

  • Q. When you say pets are not allowed, does that mean ALL animals?

  • A. Actually it doesn't. It means your pet is not allowed. Companion animals who accompany the disabled are allowed in EVERY establishment that the person it is aiding can enter. That's the federal law. But, remember, that means certified working companion animals.

  • Q. I've taken my dog into hotels without them knowing it for years, what's wrong with that? If I had to pay their extra fees or only stay where the dog is allowed, I couldn't afford to travel as much as I do and then my pet and I are both out.

  • A. I'm going to assume you love your pet, after all you're risking going to jail just to keep that fur friend with you on your trips. What's wrong with that is that it is a crime, it risks the loss of your pet and it is TOTALLY UNNECESSARY. Why do you risk such loss when it isn't necessary? There are lots of pet friendly places out there where you and your fur friend can hang out, be welcome and really enjoy the experience.

  • Q. What about those hotels that allow dogs for competition, but say "no" the rest of the year?

  • A. They are a business, they do what makes them money and they are NOT pet-friendly. Personally, I never patronize such establishments whether my dogs are with me or not.
