Cedar Point

Sandusky, Ohio

Pets are not allowed within the park, but the park does provide day accommodations for pets traveling with park visitors (overnight boarding is not available). Through most of the year, Pet Chek opens 1 hr prior to park opening and closes 45 min. after the park closes. On Fridays during HalloWeekends, however, Pet Chek is open from 5 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. The charge for Pet Chek is $15 per animal per day (regardless of whether the pet is alone or shares a kennel, the rate remains per animal). The pet owner may provide food or Cedar Point will provide dry dog food at no additional charge. Water is provided. The kennel is not able to perform special handling, including but not limited to walking or handling the animal or feeding at special times.

Very large animals (German Shepherds, Great Danes, St. Bernards, etc.) are each placed in one of six runs. Smaller pets are placed in sheltered cages, fiberglass with metal fronts and coming in two sizes. Cages are assigned by the hostess on duty and the area is enclosed and climate controled with the use of ventilation fans or air conditioning as needed. Sizes are:

  • Small - 23"W x 24"H x 27"D
  • Large - 35"W x 32"H x 27"D
  • Run - 32"W x 48.75"H x 65"D
  • Pet Chek is located near the Cedar Point Marina across from the bus parking lot. Reservations are not accepted and the person registering a pet must be at least 18 yrs. of age, sign the registration sheet and receive the cage tag. The same person must check out the pet and sign the registration sheet and return the cage tag or pay a fine.

ALL BREEDS are accepted a long as they are under control (any animal that can be SAFELY kept at Pet Chek will be accepted). All types of animals are accepted providing there is a appropriate sized cage available. Birds can be left in their cages and then placed inside one of the Pet Chek cages. Ferrets and similar animals must be in their own cages. Vaccination records are not required.

Pets are not allowed on the beach, at the swimming pools or in the picnic area. Pets are allowed on Cedar Point Marina, but must be leashed at all times. Pets are not allowed at Cedar Point's hotels, but are permitted at Camper Village at no extra charge, but must be kept leased at the guest's site and not left unattended.
